Kinky muk Curl Leave In Moisturiser is where a curl routine starts. It rehydrates hair with weightless moisturisers, takes down the frizz that humidity causes, and it does it without the heaviness that flattens a curl pattern.

The formula is non-greasy, and that is what lets it work two ways. On wash day it goes through damp hair before you style. On day two it goes through dry hair as a refresher, which is the job most curly routines have no answer for: curls that were right yesterday and have gone flat and fuzzy overnight.

It is not only a curl product. we list it for straight hair as well, where it adds moisture and protects against the weather, and applied liberally before a blow dry it gives extra control. It is the only one of the three Kinky muk products we list that way.

Cyclomethicone adds gloss and moisture and makes hair easier to manage, dimethiconol is a water soluble silicone that helps with split ends, and propylene glycol helps the hair absorb moisture and hold onto it.

Use it as often as your hair needs it, on damp hair or dry.

Does a curl cream work on straight hair?

This one does, and we list it for straight hair alongside curly, wavy and frizzy. On straight hair it adds moisture and protects against the weather, and applied liberally before a blow dry it gives you more control over the finish. The two Kinky muk Curl Amplifiers are the ones we do not list for straight hair, because their job is shaping a curl pattern rather than moisturising.

Do I need a Curl Amplifier as well?

Not necessarily, and it depends what your curls are doing. This one is the moisture step and it works on its own if hydration is the whole problem. How do I use it on second-day hair?

Work it through dry hair and reshape the curls with your hands rather than a comb. It is one of the few products that goes on dry hair without needing to be washed out, which is why our muk in-house professional hairdressers keep it for the day after rather than only for wash day. Adding moisture is what brings a dropped curl back, not adding hold.

Will it weigh my curls down?

It is built not to. The moisturisers in it are weightless and the formula is non-greasy, which is why it suits fine hair as well as medium to coarse. Start with less than you think and add more while the hair is still damp, since that is when it spreads furthest.
