The muk Style Stick is our styler that’s used for both straightening and waving the hair. The ionic field technology along with the infrared ensure the iron works differently: rather than just pressing plates onto the outside of the hair, the hair is heated gently internally and the cuticle is sealed, locking in natural oils. The hair is left healthy, frizz free and with a high shine.

The floating tourmaline ceramic plates ensure that even contact is maintained throughout the gliding of the styler through the hair. The slightly rounded edge of the plates means the hair leaves the iron easily with a polished finish.

The ionic generator puts out over a million times more negative ions than a normal ceramic or tourmaline plate. Negative ions used throughout styling close the cuticle and reduce static, leaving hair with a mirror finish.

There are fourteen heat settings ranging from 90°C to 230°C, shown on a digital display. Every hair type and scenario is considered from delicate, fine or bleached hair (lower heat setting recommended) to coarse hair (higher heat setting recommended).

It runs on universal voltage, so it works wherever you travel, and it shuts itself off after an hour.

It isn’t only a straightener. Twist it as you glide through the hair to create a bend, ribbon curl, flick or wave. Curls can also be created using the muk Curl Stick, with three detachable barrels for variations in curl shape.

How To Use

Dry your hair completely. Never use the muk Style Stick 230IR on wet or damp hair.
Apply Hot muk Thermal Protector.
Set the temperature from the table above.
To straighten: glide through small sections, around 2cm, holding the iron horizontally.
To wave: hold the iron vertically and twist it as you glide through the section.

Frequently Asked Questions

Standard or wide plate?

The choice between a standard plate or wide plate comes down to the hair type and desired result. The wide plate is for thick, coarse hair and high hair density (i.e. lots of hair): it covers more of the section with each pass, so you get through a full head in fewer passes. If waving the hair and you want to achieve a looser beachy wave, the wide plate is the perfect choice.

What temperature should I use?

Match it to your hair rather than turning it up. Ultra fine, delicate or bleached hair sits at 140°C to 160°C. Coloured hair sits at 180°C to 200°C. Very coarse or resistant hair is the only hair that needs 220°C to 230°C. The temperature recommendations are on this page. It’s always recommended to start at a lower temperature and adjust upwards only if needed, just like our muk in-house professional hairdressers. A higher than necessary heat can cause damage to the hair.

Can I use it to curl or wave my hair?

Yes, and it’s a technique worth learning. Hold the muk Style Stick 230IR vertically and twist your wrist as you glide down the section, and you’ll get bends, ribbon curls and flicks depending on how far you turn it. Our muk in-house professional hairdressers use it that way for a soft undone finish rather than a set curl. If curls are the main event rather than an occasional change, the muk Curl Stick is the tool built for it, with three interchangeable barrel shapes.

Can I take it overseas?

Yes. The muk Style Stick 230IR runs on universal voltage, which means it reads the supply and sets itself, so there’s nothing to switch and no risk of running it on the wrong one. You’ll still need the right plug adaptor for the country you’re in, since that’s the shape of the socket rather than the voltage. It’s a genuine advantage of a professional tool, without having to buy another styler at your destination.
